Juvenescence
Editorial | Portraiture | Fall 2019
Welcome to the fantastical world of crooked juvenescence––a state of mind that epitomizes the loss of innocence, sexualization, and rebellion that occurs in one’s youth. The collection aims to mirror the playfulness of children and emphasize the theatricality of those who attempt to break free from societal or parental barriers. On the contrary, certain stills hope to evoke a feeling of physical entrapment, representative of one’s “personal barrier,” the struggle of identity. Although lifelong, issues related to identity are particularly pertinent in the adolescent years. Ultimately, the collection takes you through a journey of rebellion and self-discovery; both inevitable products of juvenescence.
